3D LINK

The idea behind the 3DLink™ suspension technology is simple: triangles. Triangles have the best strength to weight ratio of any geometric shape. The 3DLink™ suspension system is a triangular geometry ideally suited for aggressive cross-country racing. Since the 3DLink™ design does not rely on the shock as a structural member of the frame, it is incredibly stiff laterally, creating a bike that tracks straight, loses nothing to flex, and is as efficient as a hardtail on singletrack.

The 3DLink™ rear suspension design, coupled with a custom-valved Fox shock results in a fully active suspension system, and an optimal XC suspension rate which directs all of the rider’s energy into the drivetrain for unparalleled power transfer and acceleration. Optimized pedaling efficiency and no suspension “bob” result in more power and traction to the rear wheel.

  • New FORM carbon fiber seatstay improves the strength to weight ratio
  • Single Pivot design assures a consistent ride quality throughout its range of travel in every gear

FORM Technology

The heart of a bike is its frame. The geometry, the material, the feel, and the way it reacts under the rider are the very essence of the ride. That’s why we’ve introduced FORM™ – the design and manufacturing process of our high-performance frame tubing. Our philosophy behind FORM™ tubing is to push the limits of tube and frame design to create the frame’s unique riding feel.

Engineered Ride Quality : FORM™ tubing is a line of high-performance tubes designed to elevate the superior ride quality for which Rocky Mountain Bicycles are known. Innovative design: With 25 years of innovation, we continue to push the boundaries of bicycle design. FORM™ tubing is the exciting new frontier of our creativity.

Attention to detail: Every detail in a FORM™ tube set is carefully engineered and has a
purpose: from the slightest variations in shape, to wall thickness, tapers, flares and bends.

Uncompromising quality: FORM™ tube sets are manufactured with premium materials and delivered by the best suppliers in the industry to meet Rocky Mountain’s strict requirements.

LC2R
The Low Centre Counter Rotating – LC2R – patented suspension is a laterally stiff design that offers a highly predictable ride in all conditions. Its low sprung weight and concentrated suspension mass allow the LC2R suspension to respond faster to ground forces, such as stutter bumps, and keep the rear wheel glued to the ground during
acceleration.

LC2R suspension is a single pivot design, with the main pivot located just above and behind the bottom bracket. Both chain and brake forces are concentric to this pivot through-out the suspension travel, which eliminates pedal “bob” and brake jack. A thrust/ tug link engages the top link to create a rising rate suspension and the much-sought-after “infinite travel” feel. We tune LC2R to create an optimal suspension rate for different types of riding – from super cross country to Freeride and to downhill.

FLATLINE
Freeride / 100%
Gravity / 100%
Slopestyle / 70%
Dirtjump / 60%

  • Linearly Rising LC2R suspension rate is tuned for freeride and downhill racing; suspension progression is inherent to the linkage design, not the shock absorber.
  • Concentric to the main pivot point, chain and brake forces eliminate pedal “bob”; suspension is stable during pedaling, and “platform” pedaling is inherent to the suspension design – not the shock.
  • Counter rotating top link creates a more laterally stiff Swingarm for increased control in tight corners, and the occasional sideways landing.
  • The counter rotating link along with the kinked down tube allow for a low and center positioning of the shock absorber in the frame. This low-slung concentrated mass allows the bike to rotate in any direction faster than if the center of mass was positioned higher in the frame.
  • Oversized double-row angular contact bearings increase bearing life, and allow for a less expensive bearing to be used. (more affordable for retail level replacement)
  • Triangulated Swingarm maximizes suspension strength, while keeping its weight to a minimum.
  • Tuglinks (as opposed to thrustlinks) increase suspension sensitivity to very small bumps, further aiding in smoothing out the trail.

Floating Brake (For Flatline Only)

  • RMB Designed Floating brake system (available as an after-market purchase) removes the rear wheel braking force (brake jack) from the suspension action.
  • The floating brake caliper eliminates wheel inertia effects of applying the rear brake by allowing the brake to move indepently of the rear axle.
  • The floating brake caliper maintains a constant wheelbase length throughout all points of front and rear travel.

GT Zaskar 9r

GT has taken notice of the growing trend in popularity of twentyniner bikes and has redesigned a Zaskar hardtail model specifically for the genre. The Zaskar 9r is an XC platform for serious twentyniner riders. GT previously entered the 29-inch hardtail market with the steel Peace model and will retain that bike for recreational users. The new Zaskar 9r is built for racing and tough riding, letting user take full advantage of the improved traction, better stability and increased inertia of a 29-inch wheeled bike.
